Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Rochester, NY
Department: Radiology / Interventional Radiology
Reports To: Radiology Manager / Lead Technologist
Job Type: Contract 13 weeks
Shift: M-F 8a-5p


Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our dynamic radiology team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency in imaging procedures, patient care, and operation of specialized radiologic equipment, while working collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently produce high-quality diagnostic images through proper patient positioning and appropriate use of exposure factors.

  • Work collaboratively with radiologists and other staff, maintaining professionalism and resolving workflow challenges efficiently.

  • Prepare and instruct patients for procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and understanding of the process.

  • Assist physicians during interventional radiology procedures, demonstrating proficiency with sterile techniques and procedural protocols.

  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment; promptly report malfunctions to the supervisor or lead technologist.

  • Manage procedural time effectively and assist team members during downtime.

  • Comply with protocols related to medication security and access.

  • Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate sensitivity to patients' physical and emotional needs.

  • Accurately document procedures using the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.

  • Respond to technical inquiries with professionalism and clarity.

  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and training activities.


Requirements:

  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association – required)

  • NYS Radiologic Technologist License (or ability to obtain prior to start)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology or related radiologic discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

  • VIR Certification (Vascular Interventional Radiography) – preferred
