Donald L. Mooney Enterprises, LLC dba NURSES Etc STAFFING is sourcing a qualified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for Joint Base Andrews located in Maryland. 

The presence of a strength and conditioning coach and massage therapist well versed in musculoskeletal anatomy of the neck and back in the 121st Fighter Squadrons has paid extraordinary dividends for both keeping pilots healthy to fly and aiding them in rapid recovery when they sustain an injury while flying. The intent of this contract is to continue this while expanding the capabilities of the strength and conditioning.

Strength and Conditioning Specialist:

Degree/Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: one of the following:
A. National Strength and Conditioning Association as a CSCS;
B. National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Nutrition Coach;
C. National Personal Training Institute as a Certified Master Personal Trainer
and Nutritional Consultant;
D. International Sports Science Association as a Master or Elite Trainer;
E. American College of Sports Medicine as a CPT;
F. National Council on Strength & Fitness as a Certified Strength Coach; or
G. CrossFit as a Certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainer or Certified CrossFit Level 4 Coach.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in elite-level athletic
communities, such as with Special Operations Forces or Division I collegiate, Olympic,
or professional sports athletes.

Licensure/Registration: Maintain a license or certificate with the state of Maryland

Requirements: The contractors shall provide their services to 33 current full and part time pilots, with the ability to increase to 36 based on manning authorizations.
  • The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall provide prehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions in fighter pilots.  
  • The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall teach, program, supervise, and coach physical training sessions in the OHWS Gym on a daily basis, such that each pilot may receive coaching multiple times per month. These coaching sessions shall be with individual pilots and/or with groups of up to four (4) pilots. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall ensure pilots are using correct form in the movements/exercises and are achieving the desired stimulus from the fitness plan.
  • The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall continually evaluate all pilots, beginning with an initial evaluation within ninety (90) calendar days of contract start, and ongoing evaluations performed at least every six (6) months thereafter for each pilot, and more frequently for those pilots with ongoing neck or back issues.
  • The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall be responsible for programming workouts that emphasize improving strength, cardio/respiratory endurance, flexibility, speed, coordination, agility, balance, stamina, and accuracy. The programming shall incorporate barbell training, free weights, bands, bodyweight movements, gymnastics, and cardio in varying intensities and duration.
  • The Strength and Conditioning Specialist shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, Air Force guidance, DoD guidance, and Strength and Conditioning Specialist practice standards. 


Schedule:
Day flying weeks ? Tues–Fri, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM
Night flying weeks ? Tues–Thurs, 9:30 AM–7:30 PM, Fri 9:30 AM–5:30 PM

Contract: 1-year base with 4 option years
