What We're Looking for in a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Degree/Education:

• Be a graduate Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory. – OR – Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school (MSN or DNP degree) for Nurse Practitioner (Family and/ or Geriatric Specialty)
• Experience: Have at least 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner within the last 36 months – AND – Recent experience in an Outpatient Clinical Setting; providers will be required to see pediatric, family medicine and geriatric patients.
• Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support identified in paragraph 1.5.45.6.): Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required. Must maintain currency with NO cost of the government.
• Board Certification: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA) –OR – Must hold a Nurse Practitioner certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• Licensure: For positions involving patient care, candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States – OR – Must have and maintain throughout course of contract, a current, active, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from a US jurisdiction.
