Position: Dental Assistant
Location: Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Hazelton, Bruceton Mills, West Virginia
Estimated Contract Start Date: October 01, 2025
Schedule:
One (1) session equals one (1) hour of service. The work schedule shall not exceed 240 sessions per week (40 sessions per contract employee). The weekly schedule will normally consist of either five 8-hour workdays or four 10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 0600 and 1800, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The number of sessions per week and the session hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Contract employee providing dental assistant services under the contract award must meet one of the following requirements:
1. Experience: Six months’ experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work, or provides familiarity with the work, described within this document; or
2. Education: Successful completion of a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA); or
3. Experience/Education Combination: Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.
Additional requirements for all applicants include:
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications and experience include:
1. Experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting
2. Completion of a dental radiologic safety program or educational course
3. Additional professional education and certifications
