Position: Medical Assistant

Location: FMC Carswell, Fort Worth, Texas

HOURS OF OPERATION/SCHEDULING:
A session is equal to one (1) hour. Medical Assistants shall be provided to FMC Carswell, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, including Federal Holidays. Medical Assistants will normally work, Sunday through Saturday, with various shifts between the hours of 5:30 AM and 9:30 PM with a thirty (30) minute, unpaid lunch period, unless otherwise approved by the contractor and FMC Carswell. The facility is expected to require an estimated 30 sessions per week, per Medical Assistant.

Education and Experience:
Individuals providing services under the contract must meet all the following requirements:
1. Must possess valid certification/licensure as a medical assistant from an accredited institute/program. Examples of such certifications include:
a. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
b. National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
c. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
2. Have valid certification/licensure to practice in the state of Texas as a medical assistant. The individual must possess proof of their current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration.
3. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
4. Preferred qualifications and experience include:
1. Experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting
2. Additional professional education and certifications

Brief Description of Duties:
The contractor shall provide Medical Assistants who will primarily assist in medication administration, stocking of medication and supplies, glucose monitoring, electronic medical record documentation, assisting with patient education, and general clerical duties.

Other qualifications include: taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, working with health care providers, venipuncture, lab draws, operation of special medical apparatus, and data entry
